Compatibility notes
Which releases these codes apply to, and where one behaves differently. Each note links to the source that documents it.
- Each release The Heroes 3 Wiki gives every release its own set: Restoration of Erathia codes, Armageddon's Blade codes, and one shared set for Shadow of Death, Heroes Chronicles, HD Mod and Horn of the Abyss. HoMMdb confirms the Shadow of Death set on the GOG Complete edition. Heroes 3 Wiki (thelazy.net): full cheat code list by expansion
- Horn of the Abyss 1.8.0 and later The Heroes 3 Wiki notes that from Horn of the Abyss v1.8.0 the build-all-towns cheat no longer builds the Grail structure. Heroes 3 Wiki (thelazy.net): full cheat code list by expansion
- Windowed mode The Heroes 3 Wiki says launching the game with /nwcgrail adds a cheat menu to the window, but the menu only works in windowed mode; the typed codes work in full screen too. Heroes 3 Wiki (thelazy.net): full cheat code list by expansion
- HD Edition HoMMdb says the HD Edition uses different codes from the Complete edition. HoMMdb: HoMM 3 Complete cheats

FAQ
How do you enter cheats in Heroes of Might and Magic 3?
During a campaign or single map, press Tab to open the chat line, type the code and press Enter.
Is there a money cheat in Heroes of Might and Magic 3?
Yes. nwctheconstruct (or the alternate nwcshrubbery) adds 100,000 gold and 100 of every other resource.
Do cheats work in multiplayer?
No. They only work in single-player; hotseat, LAN and online matches block them.
Do these codes work in the HD Edition?
Maybe not. HoMMdb says the HD Edition uses different codes from the Complete edition.
What happens if you type a code wrong?
Nothing shows on screen. Codes are case-insensitive, but a typo is just ignored instead of giving an error.
Why are there two codes for the same cheat?
Each release shipped its own codes. The Restoration of Erathia codes are marked on each row; the Complete edition is built on Shadow of Death, whose codes HoMMdb confirms there.
